Discussing arrangements for holding an Egyptian-Cypriot investment forum in Cairo At the end of his visit to the United Arab Emirates, Counselor Mohamed Abdel Wahab, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones "GAFI", met with MarwanAl Sarkal, CEO of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, to discuss strengthening joint cooperation mechanisms and attracting more Emirati investments to Egypt; as Sharjah Investment and Development Authority implements several investment projects, which include fields of tourism, services, real estate development, retail activities and water reuse.
During the meeting, GAFI CEO addressed the most prominent investment opportunities available in Egypt that could be of interest to Emirati investors, which include a number of tourism projects, glass industry, and carpooling applications. It was agreed that representatives of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority will visit Egypt next month to identify the proposed zones for the establishment of the targeted projects.
On the other hand, Counselor Abdel Wahab met with George Campanellas, CEO of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency, to present developments in the field of investment in the two countries and activate joint investment cooperation between them.
This would be through organizing workshops to exchange technical expertise in the field of attracting FDI, and the agreement on arrangements for holding an Egyptian-Cypriot investment forum in Cairo for presenting the opportunities of joint investment; in addition to holding bilateral meetings between businessmen from both sides to discuss the implementation of new projects in line with the relative advantages and economic elements of both countries.
GAFI CEO also held a meeting with Saif Al Mazrouei, Head of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, in order to follow up the new investment projects that the Group intends to implement in Egypt in the field of developing and managing ports, running cruises and establishing dry ports.Counselor Abdel Wahab assured the provision of various aspects of support to the Emirati Group to implement these projects in Egypt.
