Dr. Mohamed Awad, Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI CEO), participated, on behalf of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, in the workshop entitled "Investment and Industrial Opportunities for Egyptians Abroad," held as part of the 7th Egyptians Abroad Conference 2026, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates.
Dr. Mohamed Awad affirmed that Egyptians abroad are key partners in Egypt's economic development efforts, noting that the government continues to enhance the investment climate through legislative and digital reforms, while introducing incentives and guarantees that strengthen the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and encourage further investment.
He explained that GAFI is committed to facilitating the investor journey, starting from identifying investment opportunities and incorporating companies to obtaining the necessary licenses and benefiting from aftercare services. He also highlighted the availability of an incorporation electronic platform and GAFI's objective of reducing the average company incorporation period to three days.
During the workshop, the GAFI CEO presented the most prominent investment opportunities available in the industrial, logistics, new and renewable energy, tourism, information and communications technology (ICT), agriculture, and real estate development sectors. He also reviewed Egypt's Investment Map, which features more than 1,330 investment opportunities across the country's governorates, each supported by preliminary feasibility studies.
He further outlined the range of services provided by GAFI through its 14 Investor Services Centers, digital services platform, and the "Fekretak Sherketak" Center, which supports entrepreneurs and innovators. He also highlighted the role of the Egyptian Expatriate Investors Unit, which serves as a direct communication channel for Egyptians residing abroad, providing follow-up and support throughout the various stages of their investment projects.
Dr. Mohamed Awad called on Egyptians residing abroad to capitalize on the investment opportunities offered by the Egyptian state, affirming that GAFI will continue to enhance its services and provide comprehensive support to investors in a manner that contributes to attracting more of investments, increasing production and exports, and strengthening the private sector's contribution to economic development.
