GAFI and Giza Governorate Join Forces to Promote Investment Opportunities

In a concerted effort to bolster investment in the region, Eng. Adel El-Naggar, Governor of Giza, and Mr. Hossam Heiba, Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI CEO), convened to discuss strategies for promoting investment opportunities along the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road and in Bahariya Oasis. The discussions culminated in an agreement to feature Giza's investment prospects on Egypt's Investment Map.

Governor El-Naggar highlighted that the significant advancements in infrastructure, particularly the road network, have substantially increased the investment appeal of various areas within the governorate. Notably, Bahariya Oasis and the stretch between Sphinx Airport and the Grand Egyptian Museum along the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road have emerged as prime beneficiaries of these developments.

The governor elaborated on the diverse investment opportunities in these regions, spanning agricultural production, food industries, tourism and hospitality projects, and logistical zones. He emphasized the burgeoning interest from both domestic and international investors, especially in Bahariya Oasis, renowned for its natural and therapeutic tourism attractions. Beyond its natural reserves that facilitate safari and exploration activities, the oasis boasts approximately 400 water springs, which can be harnessed to promote therapeutic tourism. The governor expressed the governorate's intent to attract eco-friendly investments that align with governmental development initiatives.

Governor El-Naggar lauded the ongoing collaboration between Giza Governorate and GAFI, noting that GAFI's technical and promotional capabilities, including the Investment Map website, play a pivotal role in streamlining the presentation and application processes for investment opportunities within the governorate.

On his part, GAFI CEO outlined the incentives available for environmental and therapeutic tourism projects in Egypt and discussed suitable investment frameworks for these activities. He reaffirmed GAFI's readiness to support promotional plans for Bahariya Oasis as a therapeutic tourism destination catering to both local and foreign markets, particularly given its relative proximity to Cairo and Sphinx Airports.

Mr. Heiba also noted the substantial demand for establishing investment zones in the logistics, storage, packaging, and redistribution sectors within Giza Governorate, aiming to serve Greater Cairo. He highlighted that GAFI's management of investment zones reduces procedural timelines by 80%, serving as a significant draw for investors.

The meeting was attended by several officials, including Mr. Ibrahim El-Shehaby, Giza Deputy Governor; Mr. Hossam El-Din Gafar, Head of the Central Department of Domestic Investment Attraction at GAFI; Eng. Adel El-Gendy, Head of the Strategic Department at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities; Eng. Mahmoud Fawzy, Head of Giza Governorate Department Overseeing Industrial and Investment Zones; Ms. Hayam El-Batawy, Head of the Department of Investment at Giza Governorate; Eng. Nancy Fakhr, Head of the Central Department of the Investment Map; and Dr. Abdel Sattar Ezzat, the Director General of the Investment Opportunities Department at GAFI.
