Mr. Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones – GAFI CEO, and Engineer Yousry Salem, Assistant Minister of Education and Technical Education for Educational Buildings Affairs, discussed ways to enhance cooperation to attract local and foreign investments in the primary education sector. Mr. Heiba stressed GAFI’s participation in the efforts of stimulating investment in the education sector, as GAFI will allocate part of Egypt’s Investment Map to promote investment opportunities in the education sector in cooperation with the rest of the Egyptian authorities, provided that the investment opportunities meet the development needs of the surrounding areas and contribute to the fair distribution of educational services across the country. Mr. Heiba also announced that new investments in the education sector can apply for the Golden License, as they are investments that contribute to supporting development efforts, and are among the priority sectors in the sustainable development plan "Egypt Vision 2030". He added that the government already provides special incentives for investments that are in line with the aspirations of investors in the sector. These incentives are doubled in the areas most in need of development to achieve one of the most important development goals, which is making education available to all without discrimination. Major General Engineer Yousry Salem pointed out that the General Authority for Educational Buildings aims to attract investments to establish 1000 schools under the new requirements that are financially and structurally feasible across many regions in Egypt’s cities and villages. These projects offer strong economic potential, driven by the growing demand for the educational services in Egypt. Both parties agreed to hold events to promote investment in the education sector, creating a forum that brings together investors, financial institutions, developers, landowners, relevant authorities, and education sector experts. Additionally, they plan to intensify efforts to introduce investment requirements and incentives in the education sector to investors, and provide them with models of construction and economic studies for schools.
