Mr. Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), went on a promotional visit to Japan

​Mr. Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), went on a promotional visit to Japan, in the presence of representatives of the Egypt-Japan Business Council (JEBC) and Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East (JCCME). The visit was organized by the Egyptian Embassy and the Commercial Representation Office in Tokyo.

The visit witnessed bilateral meetings with major Japanese companies in the sectors of automotive industry and its feeding industries, electronic industries, pharmaceutical industries, construction equipment, new and renewable energy, and food industries, in addition to the most significant Japanese banks and financial institutions, and representatives of the regional office of the United Nation Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Tokyo.

The representatives of the Japanese companies stressed their trust in the Egyptian economy and their appreciation for the efforts undertaken by the Egyptian government to enhance the efficiency of the investment environment in Egypt. Moreover, they expressed their desire to inject new investments in the Egyptian market, which is considered a major center for manufacturing and exporting Japanese brands.

Furthermore, the visit included holding an Egypt-Japan business forum in the presence of representatives of 100 Japanese companies and economic bodies, where future investment areas and various investment opportunities in Egypt were reviewed, in addition to the success stories of the Japanese companies operating in Egypt, such as Sumitomo Electric Egypt and Otsuka Egypt.

Ambassador Mohamed Abubakr, Egypt Ambassador in Tokyo, organized a round table, which included GAFI CEO and the Japanese companies operating in the field of the automotive industry and its feeding industries, at the Embassy headquarters, for the purpose of presenting the State’s strategy for manufacturing vehicles, and informing the Japanese business community of the developments in the business environment in Egypt.

Mr. Hossam Heiba visited the Technological Innovation Center in Ota industrial city, which is one of the largest industrial clusters in Tokyo, where a number of small and medium-sized companies operate in many fields, to get to know the Japanese experience in developing the industry through creative applications and artificial intelligence uses, as well as knowing the best facilities and incentives provided by the Japanese government to entrepreneurs.
