GAFI CEO Mr. Hossam Haiba witnessed the inking of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) among "Benya Group", "Khazna Data Centers" and Maadi Technology Park to establish the first high-capacity data center in Egypt; with a capacity of 25 megawatts and an investment cost of $250 million worth in Maadi Technology Park, in the presence of the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Egypt Ms. Mariam Khalifa AlKaabi, Head of Maadi Technology Park, a number of GAFI officials, and the two member companies of the Board of Directors of Maadi Technology Park.
An MoU was signed by Eng. Ahmed Mekki, Chairman and CEO of "Benya Group", and Mr. Hassan Al Naqbi, CEO of "Khazna" company. Moreover, "Benya Group" and "Khazna Data Centers" also signed an MoU with Maadi Technology Park to allocate a site for the establishment of a data center, and it was signed by Eng. Ahmed Mekki, Chairman and CEO of "Benya Group", Mr. Hassan Al Naqbi, CEO of "Khazna" company, and Eng. Amr Abu Alam, Head of Maadi Technology Park.
The project, which is planned to be built on an area of 40,000 square meters in Maadi Technology Park, is the first of its kind in terms of capacity and area, with an investment volume of about $250 million to target large-scale data center businesses in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa.
In turn, Mr. Hossam Heiba, GAFI CEO, commended the project, explaining that it comes in line with Egypt's plan to localize information technology and data centers, especially in light of the great development witnessed by the technological infrastructure sector in Egypt.
Eng. Ahmed Mekki, Chairman and CEO of "Benya" Group, said that the partnership with "Khazna" will enable us to enter strongly in the construction of high-capacity data centers, noting that this agreement represents a major step to enhance our role in establishing this type of data centers in Egypt.
On his part, Mr. Hassan Al Naqbi, Khazna Data Centers CEO, said that Khazna has played a pivotal role in the digital transformation of the United Arab Emirates, explaining that the cooperation with Benya Group is a milestone in Khazna's expansion journey on the regional level.
On a related note, Eng. Amr Abu Alam, Head of Maadi Technology Park, mentioned that the aforementioned Park is a strategic location for the establishment of telecommunications and information technology companies in Egypt, where it offers a range of advantages such as tax incentives, modern infrastructure, and proximity to various business centers in Greater Cairo. In addition, such Park promotes the culture of innovation and cooperation among companies operating in it, which include local and international companies in various outsourcing, and information and communication technology sectors.
