GAFI CEO meets a number of Romanian officials to discuss ways to increase investment cooperation between the two countries
Counselor Mohamed Abdel Wahab, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), held a meeting with Ionel Arsene, Governor of the Romanian state Neamt, the Chairman of the Egyptian-Romanian Business Council, a delegation of businessmen from Romania, and the Romanian Embassy in Cairo, to discuss ways to activate and increase investment cooperation between Egypt and RomaniaCounselor Mohamed Abdel Wahab stressed GAFI's endeavor to increase the cooperation with the Romanian side, in order to attract and encourage Romanian investments in many vital sectors, especially the petroleum industries, infrastructure, wood industries, and spinning and weaving, in addition to reviewing the investment opportunities available in Romania and presenting them to Egyptian investors interested in investingin the Eastern European markets.
The meeting included a review of the services and projects provided by some of the participating Romanian companies, which included COMES for the manufacture mechanical equipment and pressure vessels used in chemical and petrochemical industries, KÖBER for paints and decorative products, RIFIL for the manufacture of spinning and textile fibers, MAVGO HOLDING and TRUST CCDP in the field of road construction and related construction works, and NORD ARIN for the manufacturingof furniture.
On his part, Ionel Arsene praised the system in the Investor Services Center (ISC) of GAFI, and the various services provided to investors.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to hold a business forum with major Romanian companies interested in investing in Egypt, to introduce them to the available investment opportunities, and to the recent attractive investment climate in Egypt recently.
